Mighty Atom News and Events

Well January has been a very busy month for us. The studio has been in use virtually every day this month with our own bands as well as bands using the studio for their own stuff.

First paying guests in were Laughterhouse who recorded and mixed an incredible 5 songs in two days. This many songs in this short a time is not something we reccommend since it inevitably means comprimises must be made. However, Laughterhouse delivered a very credible 5 songs. We really liked the songs, and it was shame that we didn't have more time to experiment, but we had a lot of fun in the time we did have. Check out the Laughterhouse web site at http://members.fortunecity.com/ianh/laughterhouse/. Look out for their CD release shortly.

Liberty 37 have been in the studio throughout January recording tracks for their second album. They have some excellent new material and the new tracks are working out very well. The boys will be in the studio throughout February as well. Also in January we had producer Joe Gibb (Catatonia, The Levellers, Brand New Heavies, Texas amoungst others) down to produce a couple of tracks fo Powder including the A-side of their next single "Empty Bones". More details here. The single should be out in early March. Joe will also be coming down to produce three tracks for Jarcrew who are signed to ????. They're in the studio in early Feb and we'll also be working on an eCD for the band. The new Denzel web site is now up and running. Check it out at www.denzel.co.uk. Denzel will be in the studio working on their second single in March. Their first single on the Mighty Atom Label, "Out of The Blue", will be released in early March. Goatboy have also been in the studio working on the final tracks for their second album. The group are currently storyboarding for a video to accompany one of the tracks. The album will also include eCD content with three videos. Release date currently looks like April. Other news - we are currently in the process of expanding our Web Retail operation. New additions include Nozzle's latest EP as well as some classic vinyl from the Swansea king of hip-hop, Deskmasha Slice. Other new items coming to the site this month include the Mighty Video Vault as well as a booking calendar for the recording studio. And the gossip - news has reached us that Baldwin has joined the ranks of Bean(0) who are coincidentally changing their name. They are having a name re-launch gig on ?? Feb. We were lucky enough to get a copy of their recent CD release, and we do love that first track! More news on the Goatboy front as they hook up with new manager Paul Dixon, formerly the manager of The Money Spiders. Finally - band of the month goes to Lunar Pigs who we saw supporting Powder at the Gwyn Hall in Neath. Top band, top musicians and top tunes in a Chilli Pepper vein - check them out!
